Pharmacy Sig Code eFlashcards
Memorize pharmacy sig codes for the PTCB or ExCPT exam using our up to date flashcards!
Sig codes are a form of medical shorthand that prescribers use when writing prescription instructions. In many cases, sig codes are simply abbreviations of their Latin translation. For example, “by mouth” in Latin is “per os,” and the sig code for “by mouth” is “PO.”
Armed with a knowledge of sig codes and other common medical abbreviations, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians accurately interpret prescription instructions and provide patients with instructions they can understand. It’s a critical part of pharmacy practice and a foundational component of PTCB and ExCPT exam preparation.
